This joint exchange of views between the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Security and Defence Subcommittee, Andriy Yermak and Anders Fogh Rasmussen, will provide an opportunity to discuss the recent annual report on Common Security and Defence Policy, which called on the EU to support the principles of the Kyiv Security Compact as an immediate interim solution for Ukraine’s security problems.
The discussion will also focus on what military capability Ukraine needs to stop Russia’s war of aggression, including support from allies and partners in the short and medium term.
Background
On 13 September 2022, a group of experts, co-chaired by the former NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, delivered a report to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy calling for the creation of the Kyiv Security Compact.
This joint strategic partnership document would involve guarantor countries and Ukraine, to enable Ukraine to guarantee its security once Russia’s war of aggression is over.
The meeting will be webstreamed, you can follow it here.
