New EU rules to fight child sexual abuse

Starting at 9:00, MEPs will discuss with Commissioner Magnus Brunner a proposal to update EU legislation on child sexual abuse crimes, to take into account technological advances and improve victim support. The draft legislation criminalises child sexual abuse “instruction manuals” and artificially created deepfake imagery, among other things. A plenary vote on Parliament’s position ahead of negotiations with EU ministers will follow at 12:30.

Israel-Iran military escalation, EU-Israel Association Agreement and Gaza’s humanitarian crisis

In the evening, MEPs and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas will debate the situation in the Middle East. This debate will focus on the risk of further instability in the Middle East following the Israel-Iran military escalation, the review of the EU-Israel Association Agreement and the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
