European Council conclusions

First on the day’s agenda, at 8.30, is a debate with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the outcome of October European Council meeting on 23 October. The Brussels meeting focused on Ukraine and the possible use of frozen Russian assets for arming and rebuilding Ukraine, the Gaza peace plan, EU defence readiness, competitiveness, housing, and migration.

Vote on sustainability simplification package

MEPs will be voting on amendments to the Commission’s proposal for simplified corporate sustainability reporting and due diligence requirements, ahead of negotiations with EU ministers. The draft legislation is designed to reduce the number of firms subject to reporting requirements while making due diligence compliance easier for businesses.

A press conference with the rapporteur is scheduled at 13.30.
