Boosting European defence

From around 10.00, MEPs and Commissioner Kubilius will discuss possible ways to strengthen European defence given the increasingly volatile international environment. These include strengthening military deterrence, supporting Ukraine and reinforcing Europe’s defence industrial capacity.

EU migration and asylum pact

MEPs will vote at 12.30 on the first ever EU list of safe countries of origin for asylum seekers, plus new rules on when a non-EU country may be considered safe. The votes will be preceded by a short debate. A press conference will follow at 14.00.

EU 2040 climate target. In an amendment to EU climate law, plenary will also vote on a 2040 greenhouse gas emission reduction target of 90% compared with 1990 levels, to achieve a climate neutral EU by 2050.
