To boost competitiveness and cut red tape, existing sustainability reporting and due diligence rules are being simplified. The aim is to ease reporting requirements and cut social and environmental obligations for companies. The draft new rules restrict the pool of companies that will be required to report on sustainability and make social and environmental considerations part of their governance. They also bring changes to the extent and detail of sustainability reporting, companies’ liability for adverse impacts, and related sanctions.
