Emissions trading

First on the plenary agenda at around 17.30, immediately following the opening of the session, is a joint debate with Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra on three proposals to update the EU legislation on emissions trading. The first extends the scope of the carbon border adjustment mechanism, the second establishes a temporary decarbonisation fund, and the third introduces changes to the market stability reserve for emissions trading. MEPs will vote tomorrow on their positions on these files ahead of negotiations with the member states.
