Vote on appointment of Wopke Hoekstra and new tasks for Vice-President Šefčovič

After this week’s hearings and written follow-up questions for both candidates, plenary will vote at noon on the appointment of Wopke Hoekstra (Netherlands) as Commissioner for Climate Action and Maroš Šefčovič’s (Slovakia) new role as Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal.

Updated rules for border controls in the Schengen free movement area

At noon, Parliament will vote on its position for talks with Council on the reform of the Schengen Borders Code. The draft text says that restrictions and border controls must be temporary, targeted and justified and calls for enhanced police cooperation as an alternative to border controls.
