June European Council meeting

Starting at 9:00, MEPs will assess the outcome of the 26 June European Council meeting with European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Ukraine, defence, the Middle East, and competitiveness were the main items on the summit agenda.

Post-2027 long-term EU budget

From around 10:15, MEPs will outline their priorities for the EU’s next multiannual financial framework, in a debate with Danish European Affairs Minister Marie Bjerre and Commissioner Piotr Serafin, ahead of the presentation by the Commission of its proposal. A Parliament resolution adopted in May called for a “significantly more ambitious” budget and argued the current spending ceiling of 1% of the EU-27’s gross national income was not enough.
